Meet the District Superintendent
Dr. Edward (Eddie) L. Estep

In September 2006 Dr. Edward (Eddie) L. Estep began serving as superintendent of the South Carolina District. Prior to this, he served as senior pastor of the Columbus (OH) Shepherd Church of the Nazarene from 2000-2006. He has also served in other pastoral assignments that include churches in Maysville, KY (1991-2000), Ripley, WV (1987-1991) and Parkersburg, WV (staff position, 1982-1984).

Eddie received the bachelor of arts degree from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in 1982. He graduated from Nazarene Theological Seminary in 1984, earning the master of divinity degree, and from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1998, earning the doctor of ministry degree. Called to preach at the WV District Campground at the age of 15, Eddie was ordained by the West Virginia North District at the same campground in 1988.

Eddie has served on the Board of Directors of the Limestone Family YMCA (Maysville, KY), and on the Board of Trustees for Nazarene Bible College (Colorado Springs, CO), Meadowview Regional Medical Center (Maysville, KY), Mount Vernon Nazarene University (Mount Vernon, OH), where he also served as secretary of the board, and Trevecca Nazarene University (Nashville, TN). He has served on various district boards in Eastern Kentucky and Central Ohio and as district NYI president in West Virginia North. He was a delegate to the Global Theology Conference in Guatemala City, Guatemala, in 2002. He was elected to the General Board of the Church of the Nazarene at the denomination’s General Assembly in 2005. He presently serves on the District Superintendents' Advisory Council (DSAC) and the Regional Course of Study Advisory Council (RCOSAC) for the USA/Canada Region. Additionally, Eddie has been the featured speaker in college and seminary chapel services and pastors' retreats and has traveled to Peru, the Philippines, Mexico, Madagascar, Guyana, Costa Rica, and Panama on mission trips.

Eddie was born in Charleston, WV. He and his wife, Diane (Doran), grew up in the same church (Paden City, WV). Diane's passion and ministry focus is Marriage & Family Enrichment. They have two sons, Josh, a Mount Vernon Nazarene University graduate who lives in Columbus, Ohio, and works at Nationwide, and Jeff, a senior at MVNU and member of the MVNU baseball team. Eddie enjoys running, hunting, fishing, piloting Cessna airplanes, and spending time with his family.
