Meet the District Superintendent
Dr. Edward L. “Eddie” Estep

In September 2006, Dr. Edward L. “Eddie” Estep began serving as superintendent of the South Carolina District.  Prior to this, he served as senior pastor of the Columbus (OH) Shepherd Church of the Nazarene from 2000-2006.  He has also served in other pastoral assignments that include churches in Maysville, KY (1991-2000), Ripley, WV (1987-1991) and Parkersburg, WV (staff position, 1982-1984).

Eddie received the Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in 1982.  He graduated from Nazarene Theological Seminary in 1984, earning the Master of Divinity degree, and from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1998, earning the Doctor of Ministry degree.  Called to preach at the WV District Campground at the age of 15, Eddie was ordained by the West Virginia North District at the same campground in 1988.

Eddie has served on the Board of Directors of the Limestone Family YMCA (Maysville, KY), and on the Board of Trustees for Nazarene Bible College (Colorado Springs, CO), Meadowview Regional Medical Center (Maysville, KY), Mount Vernon Nazarene University (Mount Vernon, OH), where he also served as secretary of the board, and Trevecca Nazarene University (Nashville, TN).  He has served on various district boards in Eastern Kentucky and Central Ohio, and as district NYI president in West Virginia North.  He was a delegate to the Global Theology Conference in Guatemala City, Guatemala in 2002.  He was elected to the General Board of the Church of the Nazarene at the denomination’s General Assembly in 2005.  Additionally, Eddie has been the featured speaker in both college and seminary chapel services, and has traveled to Peru, the Philippines, Mexico, Madagascar, and Guyana on mission trips.

Eddie was born in Charleston, WV.  He and his wife, Diane (Doran), grew up in the same church (Paden City, WV).  They have two children, Josh, a junior at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, and Jeff, a senior at Brookland-Cayce High School.  Eddie enjoys running, hunting, fishing, piloting Cessna airplanes, and watching his boys play ball.
